The University of Windsor is a public
  • The University of Windsor is a public, student-centered and research oriented University located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1857, as a small liberal arts college named Assumption College.
  • It is the southernmost university of Canada, enrolls approximately 12000 full time and part time undergraduate students and 4000 graduate students.
  • The University has nine faculties including:

Campuses

  • The University of Windsor has two campuses located in Windsor itself - the main campus is located in Sunset Avenue and the downtown campus of the University is located in Ferry Street.
  • University of Windsor has its main campus located in the “automotive capital” across the border of Detroit which is the largest and one of the most populous cities of the United States.
  • The University of Windsor main campus covers 130 acres surrounded by residential sector.
  • The main campus of University has a small arboretum which is basically a small botanical collection representing spices from Carolinian forest.
  • Recently, the University has introduced a new research facility called the Essex Centre of Research, the 46,000 square feet featuring state of the art labs.

Windsor Open Entrance Scholarships

International students applying at University of Windsor are automatically eligible for University of Windsor Open Entrance Scholarships program, following are the eligibility criteria

  • The student must have completed full time higher secondary schooling.
  • The Student must not have any gap and should be applying in=immediately after the completion of schooling.
  • The student must be entering in Fall term for a full time course. Other Automatic Entrance Scholarships
  • The University of Windsor helps students with financial support on the basis of need and academics.
  • Students with exceptionally excellent academics and have any special skill can participate in University of Windsor's Skill Competition Scholarship and can avail open entrance scholarship. Following are the current Sill Competition Scholarships:

    • Windsor Regional Science, Tech. and Engineering Fair.
    • FIRST Robotics - Windsor Essex Great Lakes District Event

Accomodation

On Campus

  • The University of Windsor provides on Campus accommodation facilities to its students.
  • University has four residential halls of two types of housing available: Traditional Style or Semi suite of Suite style which are located at walking distance from classrooms, library, bookstores, student centers and food outlet. Following are the residential halls:
    • Laurier Hall
    • Macdonald Halls
    • Cartier Halls
    • Alumni Halls
  • The University also provides meal facility to students living on campus in residential halls.

Off Campus

  • There is off campus accommodation available for students willing to stay outside the campus.
  • Students are offered different types of accommodation such as studio apartments, 3-4 bedroom apartments.
  • Fully furnished apartments are available with amenities like electricity supply, water supply, high-speed internet also onsite laundry facility.
  • The average rent for students living off campus is CAD 550-600 per month.
