  • The Victoria University of Wellington is built in Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. It was found in 1897 by the Act of Parliament and was a constituent college of the University of New Zealand.
  • The University was named after Queen Victoria on her 60th coronation anniversary in 1897. Initially, the University opened with temporary facilities in Thorndon.
  • Later, the University was shifted to Kelburn, located in the outskirts of Wellington. The University still has its primary campus in Kelburn.

Campus

The Victoria University of Wellington has three campuses in Wellington City, and each of them at walking distance.

Kelburn campus

Kelburn campus is a central hub of the Victoria University of Wellington, possessing University's primary services and facilities. As the campus is perched on a hill above the city, it has incredible views and a lively student atmosphere. Te Toki a Rata, the biological Science building, is located within walking distance from the campus.

Pipitea Campus

The Pipitea campus is located in the middle of Wellington's Government and central business district. The Pipitea campus is known for its Business School ranked as the best law school in New Zealand.

Te Aro Campus

Te Aro Campus is located in the lively Cuba St District and is home to the University's School of Architecture and Design. It is specially designed with facilities including collaborative studio spaces, High-Tech 3D printers.

Wellington international excellence scholarships

The Wellington International Excellence Scholarship is for international students enrolling in undergraduate study awards financial aid valued 10,000 NZD (New Zealand Dollar) for the first year and 5,000 NZD for the second and third year. The scholarship is competitive and completely merit-based.

New Zealand scholarships program

  • Boulcott Residence hall is a high-rise building accommodating 180 residents offering single en-suite bedrooms with a particular need. It is located at 10-15 minutes walking distance from all three campuses, i.e., Kelburn, Pipitea, and Te Aro campus.

  • Capital Hall
  • Capital Residential Hall is a high-rise building accommodating 320 residents offering fully furnished single bedrooms with an internet connection. Capital Residential Hall is located at 10-15 mins walking distance from all three campuses, i.e., Kelburn, Pipitea, and Te Aro campus.

  • Everton Hall
  • The Everton Hall is a fully furnished five-bedroom flat in an apartment-style building with six flats of various sizes accommodating nearly 194 residents, located at 5 minutes walking distance from Kelburn Campus and around 20 minutes walking distance from Pipitea Campus.

  • Helen Lowry Hall
  • The Helen Lowry Hall is located at a 4km distance from Kelburn Campus. The residential hall is in the form of domestic houses set in the widespread ground and surrounded by gardens. Each area has its kitchenette, laundry, and bathroom. The hall consists of all rooms ranging from single to shared rooms.

  • Joan Stevens Hall
  • Joan Stevens Residential hall is a high-rise building with 11 floors accommodating 242 residents with single bedrooms. The residential hall has large standard rooms with a study area, television, kitchenette located in the centre of each floor. Joan Stevens Residential hall is located at 5- 10 mins walking distance from all three campuses, i.e., Kelburn, Pipitea, and Te Aro campus.

  • Katharine Jermyn Hall
  • The Katharine Jermyn Residential Hall is located in the central city around 10- 15 minutes of walking distance from all three campuses, i.e., Kelburn, Pipitea, and Te Aro campus. It is a fully catered residential hall, with 390 furnished single rooms specially designed for first-year students. The building has 14 floors with large communal rooms, a kitchenette, and study rooms on each floor.

  • Te Puni Village
  • The Te Puni Village is a multi-level three-building complex accommodating 398 residents. It has three buildings, the Edge, the Terrace, and the Tower, connected with glass walkways. There are 334 fully furnished single bedrooms in the Tower, and the Edge building and the terrace have 47 single studio apartments and 17 residential apartments. The Te Puni Village is located at 10 minutes walking distance to Kelburn Campus.

  • UniLodge – Stafford
  • The UniLodge Stafford Residential hall is located in Wellington's lively Central Business District with 3 minutes walking distance from Pipitea Campus and 15 minutes from Kelburn Campus. The residential hall offers independent, fully furnished, and centrally heated two-three bedroom apartments for 301 students.

  • University Hall
  • University hall has 40 fully furnished independent houses with bedding supplies that can accommodate 3-8 students. This residential all can accommodate 220 students and is located at 10 minutes walking distance from Kelburn Campus.

  • Uni Hall – Whanau
  • University Hall of Whanau housing has four flats with 14 fully furnished single rooms accommodation, 14 students. This residence hall is managed and operated by the University hall. It is located 10 minutes walking distance from Kelburn Campus.

  • Willis St – Cumberland House
  • The Cumberland House is located in the centre of the city, close to the supermarket and campus. Cumberland hall accommodates 227 students. Students of architecture and design mostly prefer it. It has fully furnished 123 single rooms and 24 single studios and is located at 5 minutes' walk from Te Aro Campus and 15-25 minutes' walk from Kelburn and Pipitea campus.

  • Willis St – Education House
  • Education house is a self-cater residential hall and is mainly preferred by senior students. It has 108 completely furnished studio apartments with private washrooms. Education house is located 5 minutes walking distance from Te Aro Campus, 15 minutes from Kelburn campus, and 20 minutes from Pipitea campus.

  • Victoria House
  • Victoria House is for first-year students as the environment helps in academic focus. It is a multi-story building accommodating 183 students, offering a fully furnished 132 study bedroom, 42 twins sharing, and two premium bedrooms. It is located 5 minutes walking distance from Kelburn Campus.

  • Weir House
  • Weir house residential all is located within 5 minutes of walking distance from Kelburn Campus. It is divided into four buildings William Weir, James Hutchinson, Andrea, Te Whanau, having residential rooms and a common area with fully furnished 211 single rooms, 50 set rooms, and 48 students in twin sharing.

Off-Campus Accommodation

  • The student also has an option to live off-campus, either in homestays or renting a flat
