steps to apply to the universities in the US.
1. Research and select the course or program that
will best serve the personal, academic and professional goals of the student
including:
Select a the level of
study: Associate Degree| Bachelor Degree | Masters
Select the desired
field of study
Choose the desired
University.
2. There are two major intakes in the USA i.e. fall
and spring.
The fall intake begins
in August; it has most of the courses available and the most preferred
intake among international students.
Spring or winter intake
begins in January
Universities in the USA
also have summer intakes but it is limited to specific courses.
3. Determine course entry requirements, which
includes, but not limited to:
Obtain minimum language
proficiency: in one of the following language exams: TOEFL/IELTS, SAT
(pre-requisite for undergraduate programs), GRE/GMAT (required for entry
into graduate programs).
Show proof of minimum
education qualification
4. Apply from the official website of the desired
University or via admission portals (for example: Common App/Coalition App),
with supporting documents which depends on the choice of course and institutes
admission requirements for international students
5. Submit application and wait for offer letter from
the University (turnaround time can be 2 - 8 weeks).
6. Receive a conditional offer letter, student needs
to fulfill all conditions of the offer letter along with payment of enrolment
fees.
7. Once all conditions of the conditional offer
letter have been met, wait to receive the full offer letter.
8. Receive an offer letter from the University, and
confirm the acceptance into the selected course by paying a deposit fee
(university-specific). [you must respond to the offer within 2 weeks]
9. Once the Final Offer Letter and I-20 is received,
then proceed to secure the following
Tuition fee.
Funds to cover living
expenses including travel, food, and other costs for the duration of the
course.
